Happy, happy thoughts

Francesca wants to know: Which part of your body do you love the most?

Celebrate!

PS Francesca is celebrating her eyes, her skin, her nose, her smile, and her calves.

  1. I’m a 5’10” femme fatale type, and I’m celebrating my small waist & long legs. My curves get a lot more bountiful above & below the waist, but those two proportions keep me looking pretty good.

I’ve found a lot of the problems of horizontally larger girls apply to vertically larger girls as well; clothes not providing adequate material, proportioned poorly, limited selection, the assumption within the (VERY) limited specialty stores that you want to look like a matron. (Before you say it, haute couture is designed for the tall, but as I’m a proportional size 12-14, not a 2-6, that’s not an option, even if I could afford it.) My entire work wardrobe consists of Gap pants (long enough in the rise & leg) and jersey shirts (which stretch to extra lengths & over chest), because the tailored stuff is tailored for someone else.

It’s taken me a LONG time to accept & revel in my height, but like you said, if you’re going to be the biggest, be the Biggest! I am Glamazon! I’m going to learn to sew.

  2. Francesca – I ride bikes, so, I love my legs. I’m short, stumpy, and pretty thick in almost every place, but my legs are great engines and I appreciate them muchly. I’m also pretty fond of my green eyes, my smile (I still have all my teeth), my well developed bust and what is left of my waistline. My size 6 double wide feet, however, remind me a small shoeboxes and are a bear to find fashionable shoes for. But, we persevere.

  3. I celebrate my strawberry blonde hair, my green eyes and my freckles. I’m a “Big” big girl, standing at 5’10”, wearing a size 10 shoe (today my brown BCBGgirls). I am thrilled that one of the first obsessions my now 18 month old daughter had was shoes.

I love my arms, I love my legs, and I am mostly thrilled with my skin. All in all, I’m a pretty hot babe. After all, 40 is the new 20 so 38 must be the new 18!

  4. My favorite part of my body is my breasts! They’re set higher on my chest (as they are on all of the females in my mother’s family) so it’s hard to find a bra that does them justice, but when I wear my fantastic bra, look out world! They’re lovely and well proportioned and round.

In fact, they’re the reason I’ve been losing weight very slowly- I don’t want my girls to shrink instead of my bum.

  5. I love my long hair, my naturally rosy cheeks, and my cute little feet. In fact, I think I’m going to go fix my toenail polish so I can wear sandals on my cute little feet today and show them off.

  6. OH, my hair. It’s my vanity. Long, thick thick thick, and curly. While it’s a pain in the butt to take care of, it’s soooo pretty, too.

I’ve always hated my size 12 feet, but as I’ve gotten older, I am starting to really like and appreciate them- they are good for my body. I would look strange with small feet.

I have a nice mouth and straight teeth. And my belly, while pudgy and less than ideal, has brought forth three perfect children- and I love it for that.

  7. I am loving my skin. Also as the belly slims down, I can’t stop staring at it! lol

  8. My eyes! I’m so vain about them… not only are they big and blue framed by long lashes… but I have perfect vision (for now) and need no corrective lenses.

I also love my lips, my skin and my neck.

  9. Love my short, thick hair which today is fierce & fab. I have a great smile and beuatiful blue eyes. I love that I’m strong enough to change the water bottle at work while all the other women wait for the guys to do it for them.

  10. I love my freckles. I hate wearing foundation to “even out” my skin because heck, not everyone has freckles.

And I love my feet. They don’t mind tromping around barefoot but also don’t complain too much about fun shoes. :)

  11. I focused on body image affirmations earlier this week, and I just love my shoulders. They’re broad, strong, cutely freckled and have well defined bone structure. Well, then there is hair, eyes, curves and all that as well. Gotta love the body we live in!

    Comment by Cynthia — July 26, 2007 @ 12:36 pm

  12. I love my hands. They are a genetic gift from my mom. My husband loves my big blue eyes. Also I have great legs, even though I don’t wear skirts much.

And like Miss Janey, I love being naturally strong. I moved my entire office (desks bookshelf, filing cabinet and all) with no help other than a hand truck, leverage and wit.

    Comment by Pinkleader — July 26, 2007 @ 12:37 pm

  13. I adore my proportions because they’re the idealized, traditional female ones. I have the ideal 0.7 waist to hip ratio, my bust isn’t overly large. My butt is round, the girls are still perky. It makes me not afraid of losing weight because I’ll still be curvy.

Thin ankles, pretty hands and feet. Big olive green eyes with ridiculously long lashes. Full Cupid’s bow lips. Thick dark hair lovingly tended to by my fantastic stylist. Fair olive skin.

There’s a lot more to like than I would have thought. Thanks for making my day, Francesca!

  14. Although pear-shaped I’m nicely proportioned. I love my big round butt (I DO!), my shapely calves and thin ankles, my face, my hair and my chest (boobs & tattoo!).

  15. I have always said that I have beautiful skin (and so very much of it). I also have lovely green eyes. It is a wonderful thing to be able to focus on one’s assets and not one’s flaws (not that any of us have flaws). I am reminded of a scene from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Mikado in which Katisha an elderly lady of the Mikado’s court sets the record straight regarding her looks:

KATISHA: You hold that I am not beautiful because my face is
plain. But you know nothing; you are still unenlightened.
Learn, then, that it is not in the face alone that beauty is to
be sought. My face is unattractive!
    POOHBAH: It is.
KATISHA: But I have a left shoulder-blade that is a miracle of
loveliness. People come miles to see it. My right elbow has a
    fascination that few can resist.

  16. I love my breasts, even though it was hard coming to terms with being a 34F. They’re nice and big and cushiony, but still perky and high up. I once had someone ask me the name of the surgeon who “did” them, and while I was horribly affronted at the time, I realize now it was a sort of bizarre compliment, she thought they were so good they had to have been altered somehow.

I also love my eyes, they are a deep warm brown, almost black. I used to think they were boring, but I’ve realized eyes as dark as mine are quite rare, and (I hope) alluring and mysterious.

Last thing I love about myself is my scars, from a lifetime of clumsiness and a bout of self-injury. Something that once I was ashamed of, I’ve now come to realize is all part of the autobiography that is my body. They’re part of what makes me “me.”

  17. I have an exceedingly well-proportioned and lovely face. My nose, lips, eyes, cheeks – all are set together in one of the prettiest faces I personally have ever seen.

I also carry my weight differently from every other woman in my family – everyone else is a pear, while I am an hourglass. The result? Dangerous curves. I also look like I weigh less than I do, because of where it sits, which delights me.

Of course, as the Manolo says, we are all super-fantastic!

  18. Up until this year I would have said “my bosom.” Not my breasts – or, rather, not only; no, the chest/shoulder area – the same one Victorian ladies had on display in their lovely evening gowns.

However, after time spent in December with a well-intentioned dermatologist, who was conscientious, but no plastic surgeon, I can’t say that any more. Her efforts left a huge scar which is still painful, and “unsightly.” Actually, “unsightly” doesn’t begin to describe it.

I’m still trying to think of a part that I like, but I’m miserably wrestling with the conclusion that the one that the one part I was proud of has been permanently disfigured. :(

  19. I have exceptionally pretty eyes and, like a lot of hourglass-shaped fat women, very nice breast/shoulder/upper back area. Too bad I never go to formal events – I rock a sweetheart neckline.

You know what else is pretty great? This blog. It’s now at the top of my favorites.

  20. LaBellaDonna, you have made me very sad to hear of your mis-adventure. Perhaps your best part is your heart (beneath the bosom). That is what you should be proudest of :-)

  21. I have great boobs and great eyes, and like Miss Janey and Pinkleader I lurve being strong!

  22. I have wonderful high Irish cheekbones and a full-lipped mouth that’s been called “perfect.” And I have small and rather pretty hands, I think.

But poor La BellaDonna — is there nothing that can be done?

  23. Man…this corner of the internet is full of hot women! ;D
I have Dutch ancestry and I really look it. I like my pinched 1930s-esque lips, and I have round blue eyes and a very hourglass shape. I don’t think I’d trade any part of me, and I love that there are so many others who feel the same way about themselves!

    Comment by Jillian — July 27, 2007 @ 1:28 am

  24. I love my shapely calves, and the fact that years of dancing and driving a stick shift have left me with rock-solid muscles in my thighs and calves – underneath a very feminine layer of flesh. My legs, ankles, and feet look fantastic in forties- and fifties-style heels.

After many years of thinking my butt was tragically flat, nothing to be done about it, I have a boyfriend who thinks it is perfection. I can’t stop looking at it in the mirror! Everywhere I go, I have to turn around and check out this butt that is so sexy to a man I love.

A combination of good genetics and careful maintenance has kept my 31-year-old face looking no older than 25, maybe 26. My skin is porcelain and silky, and pimple-free (aside from the occasional zit related to my period, which I’m quick to zap with the anti-acne cream).

Everybody loves my smile. It takes over my face and lights up the room. Even though I think I look goofy in photographs, you can tell I’m a woman who loves life and has an inner glow.

  25. 5’7, full-figured yet with curves. Milk-white skin with soft scattering of freckles, dark
brown hair with large white & silver streaks (natural) scattered through. Thick, wavy and 1/2 way down my back. Chocolate eyes, full arched eyebrows. Typical
Greek/Albanian appearance. Full mouth, dimple in cheek & chin. Blessed with good
complexion, almost unlined skin (at age 50!) Gene wise: I got the good stuff!
    Have a great weekend!

  26. I love my face, especially my expressive blue eyes.
After a lifetime of hating my cherubic cheeks, I am starting to see them in a new light, as they seem to be what makes me look young and fresh as I get older and…less fresh.
I love my big strong legs, and show them off all the time.

    Comment by Betsy — July 27, 2007 @ 9:24 pm

  27. I love my face, my smile and my voice. I have big but muscular arms and legs with slim ankles and wrists. I have well shaped breasts, and a nice butt. My feet are flat but my toes are cute. Not much of a waist, but as my partner tells me ‘you can’t have everything’.

  28. I love my slightly imperfect smile, my soft full hair and my aquamarine eyes framed by naturally great shaped eyebrows. I also really like my uber strong legs and that I don’t have to wait for a man to come and move most things. I also love that my husband thinks I am the hottest thing to grace the planet.

Must say, am really quite in love with this blog right now— Can I say- WOW!!

    Thanks for the smile..
