Whoever this Sydney is. . .

. . . I wish I had her closet.

Sydney’s Closet is one of my favorite resources for super-sized, super-glamorous clothes.

And good news for Tall Sisters! Sydney’s closet has an entire section devoted to dresses for tall women! You order the dress in your size and specify if you want them to add 3 or 5 inches!

Unfortunately for Sydney, Francesca is the Petite Big Girl. For special occasions I admit to taking printouts of my favorite dresses to my excellent dressmaker and have her create a custom-designed knockoff. Hint to Sydney: If you sold petite sizes, you’d be collecting the money which currently supports my dressmaker. Also, I think you should employ more plus-size models.

But if you, our fabulous reader, are 5’2″ or taller and need to glam up for a wedding, prom, or cocktail party, check out this Sydney person and raid her closet!

Look, here are two gorgeous prom dresses on the equally gorgeous plus-size models! Francesca has weddings to attend, and is loving the turquoise-on-black design on the right with the very cute bolero jacket!

  2. Uh, Francesca – I’m 5’2″ and I can’t wear regular sizing – I have to wear Petite sizes. It was my understanding the Petite range is for women 5’4″ and under (even though the average height of a US female is 5’2″ — but we will NOT go there…). And, yes, for a lot of us, sewing IS the answer.

  4. SLEEVES! FANCY DRESSES WITH SLEEVES!

Why was this not available when I went to prom? Everything that year was either sleeveless or strapless–thank you, Sydney, whomever you are, for realizing that some of us don’t want to show off our arm flabbies!

  5. I haven’t yet bought anything from Sydney’s Closet, but they do have interesting wares. I am one of these people who needs formalwear because my organization puts on a formal fund-raising ball every year.

  6. why, oh why, did I not know of this site 12 weeks ago, when my girlfriend could have ordered a wedding dress and saved me all the stress of sewing it for her?

or at least have saved me the additional stress of having to also make my Matron of Honour dress?

    *sigh*

  7. I LOVE THIS SITE! Just for this one reason! Although I am a good size 12-14 on a good day, my niece, beautiful girl that she is-is a senior this year and maybe a size 20-22. She loves her size, has no problem being ample, and is extremely confident. My issue was/is “where am I going to get the dress she wants for prom next year?” I’m thinking about it, because she is thinking about it. You all have found the perfect site for me, and I am ever so grateful.
