Francesca’s self-image as the epic heroine

Francesca was scoping out the plus-size sale items at Size Appeal when she was struck, right there on the sale home-page, by this royal purple polafleece cape jacket.

Francesca loves purple. And even more, she loves Star Wars. And so Francesca dreams of walking down the street in this yummy, so-so-soft cuddly jacket and having myriad passers-by stop and say “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.”

Hah! Francesca jokes! In fact, everyone knows that this is not the Jedi robe, but the Elfin cape of the Lord of the Rings. Just purple instead of green. Duh! Did you think Francesca did not know the difference?

At just $12.99 on sale (yes, you read that correctly), it makes playing Epic Fantasy Hero affordable for us all. And perhaps even a romance with a certain Elf,

Legolas

known to hang out with a short and overweight friend. There is hope for Francesca!

  1. I saw that cape, too, and covet it. Purple is my power color.

The one downside to this cape over the elfin ones is that this one won’t work as handy camouflage on a rocky mountainside when the dark forces get a clue as to your presence.

On the other hand, one might manage to blind the Eye of Sauron with such a magnificent cape.

How nice to know that the Francesca is also a superfantastic geek! Clearly we must get together some time for a Lord of the Rings marathon.

And what are your feelings on Star Trek?

  2. *sigh* i already have more capes, shawls and wraps (including a fabulous icelandic cape/coat in reds and purples) than i can wear, even here in the northeast, due to these increasingly globally warmed winters. but at that price? gotta have it.

  4. There are some discussions among Fashionista community over at Live Journal about Size Appeal – apparently some women have had a really bad time with the quality of the clothes, the customer service, the return policy, and getting money refunded or merchandise exchanged. I don’t have any personal experience with Size Appeal, but it’s definitely gotten some bad reviews over there – just a heads up!

  5. Ottermatic, I just clicked on this page to post my poor opinion of Size Appeal! They took forever to ship my order, and the two items I did buy were rolled up and put into a FedEx envelope, not even a box. To top things off, one of the straps on the top that I bought was broken even before I got it — looked like it was an error in manufacturing, yet they sent it to me anyway. Since I got it on sale it’s not worth sending back as I would be out money after shipping. Never again.

  6. Mmmmmmmmmm…..romance not necessary. A evening stroll with the Orlando Bloom is most definitely a wonderful fantasy of the KateriBella’s. And the cape is truly beautiful…only in purple, the KateriBella looks like a grape with legs…sigh.
