The Women’s Forum of Australia has published an interesting looking research paper entitled Faking It detailing how media images of women can harm young girls. Faking It can be ordered from the website, but there’s a free chapter you can download in pdf format with the provocative title Hate Your Body: We Show You How.
It’s interesting reading, if depressing and not exactly the newest of news.
On a more positive fatitude note, I was playing on YouTube when I ran across this video which really seemed to sum up everything we here at Manolo for the Big Girl are trying to say.
And soon after, I found this video reply from the male point of view, which I thought people might also enjoy.
And last but not least, take a look at LoveYourBody.org, a site devoted to encouraging women of all shapes and sizes to accept and appreciate their bodies in a healthy way.
The woman in that video is beautiful!!! And it’s very well done!
