Adventure Dressing
By PlumcakeEvery once in a while when the moon is in the seventh house and the planets have aligned just right, I open my closet –the one dedicated entirely to black dresses– and yearn for something a bit more…exciting. Don’t get me wrong, I love a black jersey dress but there is life beyond noir knitwear. Here are three dresses that have rung my bell recently. They may not be for everyone, but if you’re a girl who’s not afraid to make a statement (or wear charmeuse) these might pay off for you as well.
For those who exercise their right to bare arms, this short shift is a mod choice for apples to show off those gorgeous gams.
I sort of love this dress. Jewel tones in beautifully draping silk. It’s the closest thing we big girls are gonna get to Pucci. But buyer beware, this could be a bit overwhelming for our petite plussies.
A little70’s, but in a good way. Pair it with an enormously glam cocktail ring, keep the hair soft and the shoes simple. Viva!

Those are lovely, but alas the wrong neckline for moi. This dress however
is issuing forth a siren-like call. Or to borrow a page from StyleSpy, the Want Monster is nibbling on my toes. http://tinyurl.com/22ku92

I think I had dress #3 in the ’70’s!
Of course mine was handmade by my mother out of a fabulous polyester print of Alphonse Mucha posters featuring Sarah Bernhart and had glorious little brass buttons of the head of Michelangelo’s David.
Who says superfantsticness isn’t for twelve-year-olds?

Wherefore might I obtain the middle dress (the printed silk?) I likes it!!

For the top dress, HSN.com has a similar one from the same designer — JS Boutique — in women’s sizes, only it’s a more fitted sheath style. Still all sequins, though: http://tinyurl.com/2ck3yr. And it’s $139 as opposed to $199 for the one shown here.

Is that top one made out of plastic? Just curious.
