My question is, is Francesca familiar with Edna Ferber's novels? Show Boat, Giant, So Big, Come and Get It, among others? Excellent characterizations of working America, with great place descriptions. Not very sophisticated, but fun to read. I highly recommend EF! Thanks for another great post.
