I forwarded this on to The Beard's mom, who is a Coldwater Creek fanatic. Me, not so much. Every Christmas I expect to see something from the Coldwater catalog in my stocking...in fact, she sent us an advent calendar this year and The Beard joked that she probably bought it from Coldwater Creek. Lo and behold, the catalog arrives the very next day and what do we see but that advent calendar.

I have to say I agree with you Phyllis. I like the Christmas tree sweater much better than either of the Do sweaters. You wouldn't get much wear out of it, but it would be fun for when you could wear it. I'd put it on for a casual holiday party with a swirly black skirt and my favorite black sling-backs. Yeah it's a little cheesy, but sometimes a great cheesball is the best apetizer at the party :-)!

I've noticed many more of their jeans coming in a standard 32 inch inseam-yay! Having said that, I kind of like the black Christmas sweater. If I were to be caught dead or alive in one, that would likely be it. The kittie sweater? Soon to be seen on every elementary-level teacher in my district.

I find Coldwater very nice for certain things, though they are a bit heavy on the resort-wear side. But I was disappointed when they cut back on their larger sizes a few years back -- many of their clothes only go up to size 16 now.

Like Elizabeth G., I've found their service very good, though I've only ordered from the catalog. Once when I called about late delivery on an order, they were not only really nice about it, they credited me for not just the shipping, but the clothes themselves, "because of the inconvenience." They were beyond great -- especially since the delay was entirely my fault. As became clear when I was speaking with the customer-service person, I had supplied the wrong ZIP code.

(But just FYI: Coldwater's shipping prices are really, really high.)

Coldwater Creek kind of has a reputation for "old lady clothes", and it is true that they do have a lot of styles preferred by mature women, but they also have one of the best collections of party dresses I've ever seen in a store with larger sizes. Some of the best ones only come up to size 16 or 18, but there are a lot of women who wear those sizes. Also, their shoe sales are fabulous, if you have the time to sit on the floor and paw through the boxes. There is an excellent Coldwater Creek outlet in Edinburgh, Indiana at the outlet mall they have there. I also got a gorgeous evergreen colored sweater that was crocheted or something - very delicate and pretty. Their new stuff can be pricy, but the outlet store always has huge sale racks in the back. Another strong point of their clothing line for women of any age is their skirts, especially summer skirts. Beautiful and affordable when they're on the sale rack. And, their salespeople are insanely friendly. They actually have dressing room attendants who ask how you're doing and mean it, and take away the things that don't fit. I promise I don't work for them, I just love their outlet store!
