Good points, Kitty. I was actually going to say “transvestites and transsexuals” at first, then tried to remember Patrick Swayze’s explanation of the difference between a transvestite, a cross-dresser and a drag queen…and finally just edited myself for brevity.

Let’s just say that customers looking for large shoes and flamboyantly embellished everyday wear have a place to shop, and that’s a good thing, no matter who those people are.

And I’m totally with you on the flat butt thing. Until LB came out with Right Fit, men’s jeans were the only ones I’d wear – so I’m a big ol’ cross-dresser too.

BSAG: Maybe they’re just marketing clothes for women of different shapes and sizes, instead of assuming all women have curves? Shocker, I know.

Also, I think you mean to refer to transsexuls. Even after HRT, some MtF people I know never -quite- developed “normal” curves and have just as hellish a time finding clothes for a flat chest and flat butt as any biological female. Transvestites dress in clothing belonging to the other sex for sexual pleasure.

Personally, I love sequins and ruffles and will definitely be checking them out. Always looking for kickass shirts and pretty camis to spice up my wardrobe.

I don’t know if “hiss and miss” was a typo, but I like it…. I’m pretty sure Roaman’s main target market is transvestites. Their clothes aren’t exactly shaped for a woman’s body, and they have more ruffles and sequins than most actual women would ever wear. See also their wide selection of really big shoes.

Come to think of it, though, I’ll bet they carry some long-legged, flat-butted jeans that might be worth checking out.

I’m more of the belief that Roaman’s is mostly miss, rather than hit. Unless you’re in the market for cheap, shapeless clothing, that is. For some reason, it just *bothers* me. Much like Sears does, come to think of it.

Roaman’s is certainly hiss and miss. Sometimes, it’s all plasticky-polyestery old-lady suit-y. Other times, it’s a great place to pick up wardrobe basics, such as twinsets or a leather coat–in way extended sizes and totally awesome.
