This style works quite well for many Appley girls! Particularly, if you have a poochie-front-tummy but not too much in the way of love handles (which would be accentuated, usually, by the gathers on the side), this dress could be excellent for you!

I tried this dress on during my quest for the perfect grad dress. I am definitely a defined apple-shape, and it did nothing to flatter my figure. I thought the same things you did, Francesca, about it slimming me down, and showing my figure differently. Instead it made me look incredibly bottom heavy, and the straight panels on the sides pulled me in funny.
Still, it was a gorgeous dress in person.

I love this dress! It’s like a little burst of stars on the front of the bodice. Gorgeous color too.

I think this would be better on a pear than an apple.
But also, with the right undergarment even someone with lovehandles could wear it.
