Big Girls in Art: Steffi Schuetze

Filed under: Art — Francesca @ 9:22 am

Francesca has the honor of introducing you to the blog of a wonderful artist/illustrator in Berlin who has created a series of images of Big Girls:

Ever since I got aware of all the white-washing and thin-washing that was going on in illustration and in especially in fashion illustration I have tried  to put some diversity in my drawings.

I love drawing sexy women and drawings of sexy women, but I’m really extremely bored by seeing the same body type (with varying boob size)  over and over again. So as my contribution to do something against this monotony, I have started  a little series of big burlesque girls.

Here are examples from the series:

Are they not fun? Francesca loves the brightness of the colors, and their drama.

You can see more on Steffi’s blog, here, where she writes:

I have to say I’m a little proud of this series. When I did the first picture I thought it was a one shot, but while working on it I had had so much fun doing all the glittery glam stuff and also of course presenting women of a larger body type as what they are: totally fabulous.

  2. They’re lovely. I hope she makes them available as prints or something. I think these would be fun in my boudoir. ;)
