Big Girls in Art: Titian

Filed under: Art — Francesca @ 8:36 am

Today we turn away, temporarily, from the living artists to enjoy some of the work of the 16th-century Venetian master, Tiziano Vecelli (also known as Titian).

Madonna of the Cherries

A Woman at Her Toilet

Portrait of Laura de Diante (who clearly was a fierce woman! Francesca covets her headpiece!)

Mary Magdelene (Let us hear it for the women who are large of neck and gloriously long of hair! (though, to be a bit judgemental here, Mary needs some volumizer up top, or a pretty hairband or scarf to draw interest)

Hat tip to the Tara H.!

  1. Francesca, I think Mary Magdelene may have been choosing to direct the viewer’s attention in another direction, IYKWIM.

I feel very sure that when her other…assets are more fully covered, she does plenty to show off that gorgeous hair.
