Twistie’s Sunday Caption Madness: The Madding Crowd Edition: The Result

Filed under: Uncategorized — Twistie @ 12:09 pm

Oh my dears, you do know how to help a girl get over making an ass of herself in public.

Last week, in the face of public humiliation and an awful lot of sore bits, I presented you all with this timeless image to caption:

Easter Parade and you lobbed back six excellent captions for it.

Alas, in the end there can be but one winner. This week, however, I am declaring a runner-up because it’s my game and I can do that, so there. Said runner-up is Bree for this glorious skewering of pop culture:

Representatives from FOX would not comment today about a photo taken by an anonymous source who claims this is the very first American Idol audition, held in the streets of New York City back in 1933.

Upon seeing the photo, the American Idol judges quickly responded. Randy Jackson said “what a cool picture dawg,” Paula Abdul replied that the left side of the crowd liked salad while the right side liked pizza, Kara DioGuardi said the photographer looked like he had star talent, while Simon Cowell sniffed, “A total disaster…none of those people would even get by me.”

It’s the Paula Abdul quote that makes it Art.

And now, without further ado, I present you with the ultimate winner, Margo! She takes the cake for her post-apocalyptic prediction:

After the credit crunch, internet users had to revert to Depression Era YouTube.

Dude, you made me spit coffee at my screen while shaking in my boots. This is an accomplishment. My hat – and those of the people in the left (or salad loving) side of the photo – is off to you.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to everyone who played.
