@Ananas – What about character or tango shoes? I’m not sure about the options available for characters, but one of the Manolosphere blogs linked to a tango shoe website in the past that had some pretty superfantastic stuff, and they’re made for dancing.

This is very timely, as I have recently been fretting about the state of my favorite pair of dancing heels. I go swing dancing on a regular basis, and the heels are quite worn. I would love to find another pair, as there is a good bit of battle damage on them, but it’s really hard to find well-constructed heels suitable for lots of dancing. This may stretch them out a bit longer.

I wondered why all those martyrs in the paintings had no eyelashes. Can I just yelp ditto on the shoe bags. I don’t store mine in bags (I have a shrine) but I use the shoe bags to protect my handbags (another spendy habit of mine) and the other Expensive Purse Contents (Chloe sunglasses–I vouch for the Wayfarer effect) as I usually make the subway run in flats with my dress shoes in the purse, which then come out at work.

I actually like the rubber half soles, but they are not uncontroversial and Plummy is not the only fashionista/shoe goddess who eschews them (see what I did there?). And the cobbler should ask at the very least. I have said this before: I have polished concrete floors, and I have to have some help staying upright.

I simply adore a good shoemaker and have since I was about 5. There was one on our block and I loved going in there A. because of the shoes B. because of all the mysterious looking tools of the trade, C. because I loved watching the shoemaker work his magic and D. because the leather and shoe polish made the place smell GREAT!
