I am fascinated by these suede MJ’s from Vic Matie. It’s a good color, and it’s interesting to see a squarish toe again –which always has seemed a very London look to me– but what really gets me is the heel.
Look at the way the cup is set inside the heel just a little off-kilter, there’s something extremely evocative of modern architecture in those, except I’m fairly hopeless at talking about any architecture after 1092 or so, so if there IS a term I don’t know it.
Once I was at this dinner party with a bunch of professors and they were all talking about modern architecture and it was like some combination of the most tedious outtakes of Frasier combined with a Sartre play. Honestly, I’m not a stupid person but if I hadn’t had the sweet solace of playing the alphabet game (I love with love with an A because he’s Adorable. I hate him with with an A because he’s Arrogant. I feed him on Apples and Artichokes, his name is Arthur and he lives in Australia. etc) I would have killed myself with a butter knife.
OK…let me first start off by saying I have an obsession with purple shoes, especially purple suede. I was thrilled when the color purple came back into fashion (not that it was ever out as far as I was concerned) and bought 3 pairs of purple suede shoes last year (different heel heights for different outfits, in case you were wondering). This led me to miss out on a pair of plim Prada booties on sale at NM because I just couldn’t justify another pair no matter how hard I rationalized. Anyway, Plumcake, thanks for these. No better way to start a Monday far as I am concerned. My pulse and respiration have actually increased while I’m writing this. Seriously, I know I have a problem, but I am absolutely able to function normally in spite of it, honest.
P.S. Just bought my first pair of Purple, crocodile embossed, peep toe, 4 inch heels last week, for fall/winter 2009. I’m in love.

Wow, those are some shoes with presence! I just don’t think I could wear a heel quite that high, though I lurve the colour purple (isn’t that a movie?)
