No matter how bad your prom was, it’s never going to be as bad as Carrie’s.
Saved!
I love pretty much everything about this movie. Funny, sharp, sensitive and sincere. Even better, it deals tenderly with teen pregnancy, homosexuality and faith. Plus, who HASN’T wanted to throw a bible at someone while screaming “I AM FILLED WITH CHRIST’S LOVE”?
Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion
Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow (Harvard and Vassar, respectively) play dumb blondes in one of my favorite buddy movies. My bff Meghan and I used to watch this almost every night in college. Alan Cumming and Janeane Garafalo support. By the way, did you know I invented Post Its?
Pretty in Pink
Awww, Duckie. This movie is the sole reason I’m glad Jon Cryer is the only one who still has a viable mainstream career.
Mean Girls
…. SPEAKING of not having a viable career.
1) Sissy Spacek doesn’t age. How seriously beautiful is she going to be? Forever?
2) How cute does Lisa Kudrow make that otherwise yucky dress?

Sssssh! I’ve been telling everyone I invented Post-Its. Don’t blow my cover.

Oh I don’t know, Plummy. I think Rachel McAdams has done quite well for herself.

I can tell you’re not as jaded as I am because there is no mention of the greatest dark prom/reunion movie of all time. I speak, of course, of the immortal
Grosse Pointe Blank

How did I forget Grosse Point Blank?! It’s got everything I love in a movie, and Minnie Driver!

My 20th high-school reunion is this summer, and I’m really hoping my old pal Matt is there, because he will totally GET IT when I answer “What have you been up to?” with “I killed the president of Paraguay with a fork. How are you?”

You forgot the original Prom Night with Jamie Lee Curtis, where a killer stalks snotty-ass high school students at their prom, which boasts a disco theme (!) with some awesome dance music. I’m listening to the soundtrack right now.
But I love Pretty in Pink. Jon Cryer is sending out some serious Adam Lambert vibes in that pic, and who can forget James Spader as a sexy jerk? He practically built his career on the character of Steff.
