Wide-width Brunomagli on sale!

Friday, May 16th, 2008
By Francesca

Look, the simple and versatile pump by the name of Nanico, which usually sells for $235 or more, is on 40% sale at both Zappos and Shoes.com, at a savings of 94 American dollars!  (Francesca frets that the American dollar is not worth as much as it used to be, but such is life. We who earn our income in dollars and spend much of it abroad console ourselves with the beautiful, well-made shoes.)

Happy weekend!

Francesca

Big, I Mean BIG Sale at Yoox!

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008
By Plumcake

I like Yoox. I have no idea how to pronounce it (in my head it rhymes with gadzooks though the internet says Yo-Ox) and the idea that an XXL is a 12 makes that weird vein in my head get all throbby until it looks like my forehead is pregnant with an alien baby but I do like it. Anyway, there are many great steals to be had, but I’m not mentioning any of them until I buy what I like. Last time I recommended a pair of Alexander McQueens and you heartless twitches bought them right out from under me! Hateful!

Stock Up and Save

I love a good sale. There’s nothing like getting something great at a ridiculously low price. One of the best things about the internet, in my not so humble opinion, is the sheer number and scope of deals to be found in cyberspace.

So today I thought I’d share a few of the deals currently out there for us Big Girls.

SWAK offers 10% off for all first time customers with code NEW10. I particularly liked this top:

SWAK Sheer Elegance Top Be sure to double-check on sizing, because some things on their site seem to run pretty small. This top, however, went up to a size 5X and seemed pretty close to the mark.

Good Deals From Over the Pond

Francesca wishes to turn our readers’ attention to the sale page at Evans, the plus-size clothing chain in England, which is similar in price-point to Lane Bryant. Few of the items are spectacularly pretty, but there are many good staple items which can come in handy. Many thanks to our internet friends who told Francesca about Evans before she left for London!

Evans has a fairly decent selection in the plus-size “Petite” and “Tall” categories, which Francesca appreciates, being only 5′1″!

Note for American readers: The shipping charge to the USA is only about $20 (presumably per shipment, not per item, but check this.) So if you order a few items, the shipping is worth it. Also remember that sizing works differently in Europe, so use the size chart!

Among the sale items are three beautiful gowns. The “Satin Siren” in red, blue, or black (marked down from $235 to $152.75! and look! Sleeves!),

the “Crown Jewels” velvet gown in this gorgeous blue or in black, perfect for the very sophisticated, non-Appley graduating girl in the colder climates (um, Alaska?), and down 52%, from $189 to just $90 (!),

and the lovely “Satin Dreams” in black, marked down from $185 to $148. It comes with a matching shawl, too.

Happy shopping and happy saving!

Sweet Corn Chowder Will You Look at THIS?!

Okay, so technically I’m supposed to be dead, but if we’ve learned anything from “Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade” it’s that the Holy Grail can do miraculous things. Well friends, HERE is the Holy Grail.

Prada Sfumata Mary Jane

It’s the instantly iconic Prada Sfumata Mary Jane over which everyone (including The Manolo and your humble pal Plumcake)  fawned.  Style Spy declared them the shoe of the season and they were both very difficult and very expensive to acquire.  In fact when I saw that the size 41’s (although I’d say anyone from an American 10 to a small 12 could probably wear them) were on sale for FIFTY PERCENT OFF I started pulling out my hair with one hand and frantically emailing Style Spy –who already owns them–  with the other.  Do I buy them for myself or do I let my readers in on the secret?

See, technically I already have these. Yes, they’re the pumps, but when it comes right down to it, even I do not need two pairs of Prada nero/grigio sfumata shoes. So go, shop. They’re still not cheap, but they ARE a bargain.

You won’t regret it.
