Yum Yum Yummy

Mm, mm, there’s nothing like sale items at the website of German-British designer Anna Scholz to brighten one’s Tuesday. So many gorgeous items, all available through size 28, I don’t know where to look first.

Let’s start with this blouse, available in black or olive, adorned with a satin ribbon and on sale for the British pounds equivalent of $79 U.S.

Frothy and delicious

Also for $79 is this gorgeous, oh-so-sexy, slightly shimmery top, which goes so well from day to evening:

come hither, my new blouse!

And finally, a full $215 have been slashed from the price of this embroidered silk number, which I have the feeling will soon be joining Plumcake’s collection of Little Black Dresses:

Fit for a Queen, or just Queen size!

Full sale list is here.

Happy shopping!

Jackets!

I know what you’re thinking. Jackets? In August? Plumcake must be all hopped up on the goofballs, typing with one hand while the other injects some sort of illicit substance into her lovely eyeball. But no, my suspicious internet friends, it is not so. Plumcake is a good girl, and does not go in for that sort of shenannygoats. I have seen Reefer Madness. I know what happens.

Newport News is offering three unusual and lovely jackets for the unusual and lovely girl at very reasonable prices.

Edwardian Jacket

First, a lovely velvet blazer with a hook-and-eye closure guaranteed to make your waist look teeny tiny. Very Katherine Hepburn meets Tsar Nicholas: Emperor and Autocrat of All The Russias. Don’t get too gimmicky with this one –please, no ruffled collars and cuffs– but if you just happen to have a riding crop well…who doesn’t love a well-accesorized girl?

Also for the elegant equestrienne, at 30% off:

(again I beg you, no stupid ruffled cuffs)

The NN folks also have a scrummy swing jacket perfect for the long leather gloves that will be everywhere through the colder months and you will not believe the price.

I’d love this with jeans and a say-something bib necklace or over a little black dress with a big bangle bracelet.

Queen of Fattitude

Oy Vey!

Someone – I don’t remember who—has borrowed my precious copy of Camryn Manheim’s hilarious and inspiring memoir, Wake Up, I’m Fat!

I must purchase a new copy so that I can refer to it and quote from it and share with you, my Big Sisters, the wisdom of this talented and beautiful actress.

I suggest that you, too, purchase a copy. Read it. Learn it. Live it. It is the Fat Girl’s Bible.

And while you are waiting for your very own copy to arrive, you can admire this crochet tunic sweater and Irish Linen skirt, both available in Womens and Womens Petite sizes at Talbots.com at well over 50% off!

Happy shopping and happy reading!

Plumcake’s Secrets of Fabulousness: Walk Right this Way

I don’t French kiss inanimate objects, it’s just a personal policy. Sure I might get a little snuggly with some flats at a traffic light, and okay if there’s a guy you know who’s in a coma but has a hospital wing named after his family, let me know, but otherwise the rule remains: no pulse, no pucker. That’s just the way I roll.

That being said, I totally want to kiss these things with tongues, and so should you.

The Footpetals “Stiletto Survival Kit” is a revelation and quite possibly the only reason I don’t fall face-first onto asphalt more often than I do (which is to say, more than once a day). I’ve used just about every insert on the planet and these are by far the best.

I don’t know how they do it, but I suspect it involves human sacrifice and harvesting unicorn horns at midnight, and you know what? I am totally okay with that. Well, not the human sacrifice because y’all know how I’d hate to see our readership go down, but seriously, what was the last thing a unicorn ever did for you?

I’m just sayin’.

Typically they’re 49.95 and worth every penny, but they are on super sale at www.footpetals.com. Bonus: use coupon code FPVIP207 and get an additional 20% off your order!

Oy Vey!*

The sale at MonifC is ending today and Francesca has not told you about it yet! She offers her most sincere apologies!

MonifC is the designer of plus-size clothing for the woman with such flair that it is as if she says “hello world, here is my flair! And now here am I!” Many of their designs require an attitude of uber-superfantastic proportions – on the order of Queen Latifah – to carry off. However, they also have some designs which those of us who are merely self-confident can also wear with pride and style.

I like this silk blouse. Until the end of the day, it is marked down from $218 to less than $56! It is still available in Dusty Gold (shown here) in sizes 14/16 and 18/20.

Southwestern touch - pretty as a cactus in bloom!

What I, Francesca, particularly admire about this blouse is that it offers a feminine and sexy option for those of us with less-than-perfect upper arms. See how it shows off the silky-smooth skin of the forearm while hiding the luscious but private lumpy-squishies? And the flared sleeves and beading are pretty, too.

Happy shopping!

*or as the Manolo would say: Ayyyyy!

Hurry, hurry

If you happen to live near one of Avenue’s 500 U.S. locations, please be advised that they are in the midst of their semi-annual sale, with 70 percent off some items in the store, until August 1.

Avenue sells affordable clothing in sizes 14-32. Not all of the prints or styles are to Francesca’s taste, but every so often you find a gem, like this purrrrrfectly sexy black faux wrap dress.

(Miss Plumcake informs us this soft knit number hangs happily in her auxiliary closet reserved solely for LBD’s)

For an evening when you may wear this dress perhaps some extra-pretty lingerie will be called for. Avenue has that as well (15 percent off from their website, not just in the stores), and since this is a family website Francesca has chosen one of the more covering options to show as an example:

No, it is not made of real satin or silk, but then, it is not made for wearing very long.

Happy shopping!

10% off at Old Navy Women’s Plus

Old Navy is having a Women’s Plus fall trunk show! Francesca and Plumcake have the savings for you! Click here and save 10% off any purchase of $75 or more, from now through Thursday.

First, a recommendation from Plumcake:

Plumcake has plucked this little morsel from the virtual racks at Old Navy.

Salsa Magnet!

This is the sort of dress one might wear to a casual party where barbeque, salsa and festive blender drinks in colors not found in the natural spectrum will be served. It is inexpensive and as such, no great loss if you accidentally fall into the wading pool which your friend’s younger brother has turned into the world’s largest ocean-themed Jell-O shot, complete with Swedish fish and fruit roll-up kelp for authenticity (not that anyone I know has ever tried that, or has the recipe at home).

Our fabulous girl will merely slip on this dress, a cute shrug or cardie in case she gets chilly, grab her adorable candy-wrapper clutch from fair trade group Taraluna. . .

and dance the night away, enjoying herself and looking fantastic instead of worrying whether chimichurri sauce or blue Curacao comes out of double-starched ivory linen.

Because it doesn’t.

And now, from Francesca:

Alas, Old Navy does not have a Women’s Petite department. But if I, Francesca, were just a few inches taller, I would be sorely tempted to buy this versatile pencil skirt, so perfect for showing off the shapely calves which so many Big Girls can flaunt:
Old Navy Pencil Skirt

For the coming fall days, I’m charmed by this cardigan sweater, useful and pretty for gentle Sunday hikes amid New England foliage:

Comfy and attractive sweater

But meanwhile, since much of summer is still ahead of us, you might want to consider this adorable V-neck top, which helps hide the lumps of those of us (like me) whose tummies pooch out a bit:

A little Baby Spice

Happy, happy shopping!
