The Daily Kick: WWJamesSpaderD?

Ah, Sperry Top-Siders…for when you want the whole world to know you’ve never had sex with the lights on.

My lifestyle no longer supports Top-Siders (which are available in a million colorways, including one with wee sailboats on them) but if it DID I would strap on a pair of these beasties faster than you could say “Duckie was ROBBED”. LOVE.

The Daily Kick: That Touch of Pink

Hello gorgeous.

I’m not usually over the moon for metallics, but I love the pinky peach touch of these Alejandro Ingelmos, they’re very Ann-Margaret on the page (of course to me, that’s a good thing) but I suspect these would look shockingly good on the leg. It’s almost impossible to find this sort of warm metallic for love or money and the subtle lizard print is a nice touch, too.

and speaking of money (see how I did that? I mean excluding the awkwardness?) they’re 52% off. Not bad at all.

The Daily Kick: Kickin’ it Old School

My youth was all about Sperry top-siders on the weekends and Keds during the week, because yes, I really AM that white.

I love Keds, they’re they footwear equivalent of the girl in school who had the perfect bouncy ponytail and who, for a treat at the homecoming game, totally let her boyfriend go all the way to “upsies outsideses” as long as he promised not to tell.

I just love the pique and the cheeriness of it all. If it was another brand it might be twee, but Keds have been making these for a million years –even before text messaging and Diet Coke!– so they’re just sort of sweet and heartwarming, and c’mon, they’re Keds.

The Daily Kick: AND If You Squint They Kinda Look Like Thieving Badgers Edition

Listen up novelty socks people. This is how you do whimsy in a stylish way. Even ignoring the bandit badger angle -which I never would- these are fun without being twee (I’m looking at YOU Marc Jacobs Mouse Shoe). It’s the calf hair that makes all the difference. If they were just printed? Naff beyond the endurance of a block.  Oh, FYI, Michael by Michael almost always run a half to a whole size large. Do with that information what you will.

Zebra-striped calf hair loafers from Michael by Michael Kors, less than a hundred bucks. If you don’t buy these, you don’t deserve to have feet.

Note: The Daily Kick will always be available in a size 10 or larger at the time of writing. Most of the shoes I post are on sale so they’ll have limited sizes available, and that’s just the way it’s gonna be.  If it’s not available in your size when you click over, there’s not a whole lot I can do about it other than mourn with you in your time of sorrow. It would be swell if Zappos showed a “X many left in this size” feature, but they don’t. Also it might be worthwhile to keep in mind that just because a size isn’t available NOW doesn’t mean it won’t be in the future.

I do my best to provide shoes that are available in the bigger sizes, and wide widths when possible, that fit in with the superfantastic Manolo aesthetic while keeping it within the price point for this feature (which is under $150) but, despite efforts to the contrary, I am still technically just a human so y’all are just going to have to butch it up, Irma Lou.

The Daily Kick: How Green Was My Sandal? Edition

New featurette, kids. The economy’s getting better, we’re slowly but surely starting to shop again and I’m here to bring you little nibbles of loveliness. We’ll do an ultra luxury shoe here and there, but most of the daily kicks are going be in the Cole Haan price range, not Chanel who –as previously mentioned– can suck it. And remember, if you’re looking for something in particular, or just yearning for inspiration, you can always email your pal Plummy.

Love these. The perfect emerald green leather-backed flat. I’m not typically one for gewgaws and whatnots on my flats, but I do love the gnarled settings of the jewels, and frankly the whole shoe is a much more sophisticated, witty design than I would have expected at this price point, plus the double ankle wrap can easily be snipped and punctured to a single wrap for the sturdy of ankle folks, like myself.
