Well, I saw Curvy Girls, the marginally unscripted TV show that proves to the naysayers that yes, if you work diligently and study hard at school, even plus size women can be in a painfully vapid “reality” shows that make you question whether the Mayans and their kooky 2012 plans might really be for the best.
On one hand, I’m glad to see beautiful plus size women, even if they’re only model plus-size, getting press. On the other, I just don’t get trash TV. Sure it’s not as bad as some show like Hoarders where the audience derives a pretty nauseating combination of entertainment and schadenfreude from the public exposition of someone’s mental illness, but none of that stuff can be good for your soul.
Have you see Curvy Girls? What do you think? Is it good for big girls, bad for big girls or just plain garbage?
This is the first I’ve heard of it. What do they do? Is it like Big Sexy? I loved that show.

@Bethany: I never saw Big Sexy, I don’t watch TV so I don’t know much about anything. This is the mostly-staged life of a handful of plus size models, some up and coming, some successful. It’s pretty ridiculous and embarrassing.

I watched these on Hulu, in hopes of “supporting” the curvy girls and seeing some positivity. I hate to say it, but I didn’t find anything positive about the show at all, and wish I hadn’t wasted my time on it. The girls all came off as ridiculous in many ways, even Rosie, my favorite, for trying to lose weight quickly. Everyone else came off as really bitchy, and now every time I see a photo with one of them, I scowl. I can’t stand the drama.

I just saw this on the computer today. I just watched a few minutes, mostly because of my favorite, also, Rosie.
I did love Hoarders for awhile, but now I just can’t (not even as inspiration to clean). It’s the same story, just different people and it was actually making me sick to my stomach with all those rodents and flies, etc.
